Dinkum Diaries

Dinkum Diaries

Let’s be honest: it rarely stops at one.
The moment you meet your first Dinkum, something happens. A bond forms. A world opens. Suddenly, your Dinkum isn’t just a doll — it’s a friend, a companion, a character with quirks and dreams and favourite snacks. And just like that, the others start whispering your name from the shelves…
If you’re new here: welcome. You’re in excellent (and possibly mildly obsessed) company. Here’s everything you need to know to begin your Dinkum journey - from your first doll to full-blown fandom.

~

01 Who will be your first?

There’s a Dinkum for every kind of dreamer - from the classic Dinkum Dolls (your kid (or inner kid) counterpart, poseable, ready for anything) to Dozy Dinkums (the floppiest, softest  sleepyheads you ever did cuddle) to Dinky Dinkums (tiny collectible, full of mischief), Binkys (little lovable babies, that come with magnetic pacifiers), Cozy Dinkums (the most loveable, snuggly companions that come in all shapes and sizes) and beyond.

Ask yourself:
– Do I need a plush that’s soft enough to snooze with, adventure with and is full of emotional support? (Hi, Cozys.)
– A buddy who can sit at tea parties and join every adventure? (Classic Dinkums.)
– A pocket-sized pal to collect and swap stories with? (Dinkys and Binkys.)
– Or a plush so large you could nap on it like a couch? (Cozy Dinkums say hello.)

Start with the one that tugs your heart. The one whose face makes you grin. That’s your first friend.

02 Do they come with personalities? (oh yes.)

Each Dinkum has a story waiting to be told. Some are wildflower explorers. Some are secret comedians. Some have a habit of falling asleep mid-sentence. You might not know who they are straight away - but give it time. These characters tend to reveal themselves slowly, like a great novel.

Want help choosing? Read their bios, follow their adventures, or ask yourself:
– Which realm would they belong to? (Rainbow Realm? Holiday Hollow? Wildflower Wood?)
– Do they feel more like a sugarpie or a pickle? A sprout or a moppet?
– Which one just feels like your forever friend?

03 Is it a collection if it’s actually just a family?

The truth is, most Dinkum collectors don’t think in ‘units’. These aren’t dolls to be filed away in boxes. They live in beds, backpacks, prams, and hearts. They’re dressed and redressed. Taken to dinner. Photographed. Gifted. Loved.

And just like any family, it tends to grow.

Expect the following symptoms:
– Gasping audibly when a new character is released.
– Rearranging furniture to fit a Cozy Dragon.
– Deep internal conflict when choosing between two limited editions (spoiler: you’ll probably get both).
– A sudden urge to assign them all birthdays.

04 What makes a dinkum drop unmissable?

It’s not just the doll… it’s the world. Every launch opens a new realm or chapter: fairies arriving through the Rainbow Realm… a Halloween Switch Witch with her own storyline… you get the picture…

Which means you’re not just collecting plush. You’re collecting lore.

Keep an eye out for:
– Realm reveals (new places, new stories, new friends)
– Seasonal secrets (Willa the Witch is known to appear in September…)
– Hidden quirks (Did you know one unicorn always falls asleep as soon as they sit down to watch a movie?)

05 What if you’re buying for a little one (and not yourself… allegedly)?

Dinkums make the most magical gifts. For new babies, first birthdays, becoming a big sibling, or just because. They’re the first friends children remember. The ones that get drawn into family portraits. Drooled on. Danced with. Dragged everywhere. Loved to bits (and still holding strong).

Grown-ups say: “They’re toys.”
Children say: “They’re mine.”
We say: “They’re memory-makers.”

Ready to begin?

Start with one. But don’t be surprised if they bring a few friends.

After all, in Dinkum World, there’s always room for one more.
